a fall birthday

yesterday it was my birthday, and it was also a beautiful fall day! we rented a car, headed north (after heading south by mistake) and ended up (also by mistake) by Bear Mountain. It was a nice turn of events; we did a short hike, enjoyed the gorgeous view of the lake and the foliage and finished with a slice of cake!

Last night my good friend from high school got married. The wedding was a lot of fun! Her family surprised her with a mariachi serenade, and there was also a "saint patrick's hour". Felix had a few aguardientes and showed off his newly acquired dancing skills all night :)

our wild trip to Nuqui

A couple of days ago we got back from Nuqui, a small village in the colombian pacific, where the rain forest meets the ocean. It is a beautiful place, wild and virgin. We did some scuba diving and saw dolphins and whales! walked in the jungle and saw poisoning frogs! crossed a river swimming, bathed in a thermal pool and showered in waterfalls!

Last weekend was the art festival in Dumbo, an artsy and cool neighborhood in Brooklyn. I almost never go there, so it was nice to spend the afternoon walking around and seeing stuff, even though the festival wasn't particularly mind-blowing. Here are some of the things I liked.
